Refs,
As you know, there was a modification to Law 4 (Players' Equipment) this
year. The revised law states, in part:
"... if undergarments are worn, the color of the sleeve should be
the same main color as the sleeve of the jersey or shirt"
--"... if undershorts are worn, they are of the same main color as
the shorts."
There's little reason for players in our region to wear such
undergarments. Even if it is a bit cool at the start of an 8:30 match,
the players will warm up very quickly once they start running around.
However, if a player /*really */feels the need to wear a long-sleeved
UnderArmor or turtleneck underneath his or her jersey, let's be
realistic about the "same color" rule. Finding undergarments in the
colors of some of our AYSO jerseys would be difficult if not impossible!
As long as the undergarment does not create any potential confusion with
the jersey colors worn by the opposing team and both goalkeepers, please
be reasonably accommodating of neutral colors (black, white, grey) and
approximations of the jersey sleeve color.
As always, the final decision about safety and fairness belongs solely
to the referee at each match.
Beau
