The question was asked if anything was discussed at Thursday's pizza
session that might be of interest or important for those not there.
Thanks to Bill Beardsley for the following summary...
* A grandparent gave a hard time to a referee after a game last
Saturday regarding an offside call that dis-allowed a goal. Since
this is after the game, you may want to discuss it with the coach
or simply try to diffuse the situation. If something like this
happens during the game, please call the coach onto the field (in
a non-threatening manner) and ask him to discuss the situation
with the abusive fan.;
* There have been accusations by a child that he was pushed by a
referee. Most importantly, do NOT touch a player, unless it is
your own child or to administer emergency first aid. Please
discuss the accusation with the coach so the coach can handle it.
* There as been some "acting" regarding fouls. Situations where a
player takes a dive or pretends to be fouled where there is no
foul. This is called simulation, and can be a cautionable offense
(yellow card) as unsporting behavior. Please warn the player,
then award a yellow card.
