The letter below speaks volumes. We really need your support at the City of MV PRC meeting tomorrow night if we're going to have field space in the Cuesta Annex. Please plan to attend and advocate for Concept D, or at a minimum Concept C. Thanks for your help.

Subject: Cuesta Park Annex Master Planning Process is NOW
Hi All:
We hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. We are contacting you once again about the Cuesta Park Annex. The next step in the Cuesta Annex Planning process will take next week on Wednesday, September 13th at 7 pm. At this critical meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council. The meeting will be held at the Center for the Performing Arts, Second Stage (500 Castro Street). It is extremely important to have a strong turnout at the meeting by those interested in sports fields at Cuesta Annex. At the last meeting on August 19th, the following concepts were discussed:
Concept A "Minimal Improvements, Passive Use"
Concept B "Culture, Agriculture and Passive Use"
Concept C "Culture, Agriculture and Active Use"
Concept D "Active Sports"
There were 70 people that attended the last meeting and only a few of us supported active sports uses (Concept D). Concept C does not accommodate sports fields, but would include an open grass area that could be used for tossing a ball or Frisbee. As we have previously mentioned, groups interested in Concepts A and B attended in large numbers. The Annex is approximately 12 acres and sports fields can be accommodated and still leave most, if not all, of the large Oak trees on the site as a buffer for the residents on Begen Lane. However, if active sports supporters do not step up and voice support for fields, a golden opportunity will be lost. We know everybody is busy and attending an evening meeting can be a challenge, but we urge you to participate. We already know those interested in other uses for the site will be at the meeting in force and active sports supporters need to attend in large numbers to let the decision makers know that we want and need more sports
fields in the City.
You can cut and paste this portion of the City's web page regarding the Annex into your web browser: http://www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/citynews/cuesta_park_annex_master_planning_process.htm
We anticipate that a staff report to the Park and Recreation Commission will be ready by the end of the week and posted on the City's website. We urge you to review the report and attend the meeting. Please forward this to any of your neighbors, school, church groups etc. that are in Mountain View who you believe would be supportive of sports fields at Cuesta Annex. Residents of Mt. View, as well as users of sports fields should all be encouraged to attend. This is the last chance to be heard before the matter is sent to the City Council. We can make a difference in the future use of the Annex, but we need as many people as possible to come to the meeting for that to happen.
Thanks,
Curtis and Julie Banks
