  Mark:

  Sorry this happened to you.  You should not ever have to be confronted
with an upset parent.  That parent should have asked the coach to come and
talk to you.  You, as the referee in charge, definitely should have directed
that parent off of the field and directed him to bring his concern to the
coach who then could ask permission to talk to you.  You should also let the
coach know that he/she is responsible for the conduct of his/her players AND
parents alike.  

  I hope this didn't upset your second half.

  Mark's response about where a "coach" can "coach" from is correct.
