I'm copying this reply to both the referee and coach mailing lists,
in case others run into similar situations.

Region 45 uses "team referees" for U7-U10 matches. Except for U10
center referees, we do not assign referees for U7-U10. The details
are covered here:

     http://www.ayso45.org/referees.html#refbydiv

When the home team's team referee is not going to be available for
any reason (out of town, conflict with another match, injury, whatever),
the first option is for the home team's team ref and/or coach to contact
the visiting team's coach and/or team ref, to request that s/he officiate.

If that option does not work for a particular match, the backup option
is to send a request to the referee mailing list asking whether some
other referee is available to cover the game.

One note: the requests for help need to be broadcast to the whole list,
but *please* unicast any responses. That is, please respond only to
the requestor, not to the entire referee mailing list. This will help
keep the mailing list volume under control.
